Pre Employment Transition Services


Pre-employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) help students learn ‘bout themselves, practice work skills, explore training options an’ choose uh job. Fuh students interested in these services, they might refer themselves to their local OVR district office. Uh group of students might be referred to OVR by school staff in collaboration wid their local district office. Uh completed Pre-ETS Referral Form is required fuh each student. Pre-ETS options include:
- Self-Advocacy Instruction teaches students how tuh solve problems an’ manage their lives.
- Workplace Readiness Training teaches students how tuh get an’ keep uh job.
- Job Exploration Counseling helps students learn ‘bout jobs an’ how tuh pick uh career.
- Counseling pon Postsecondary Training helps students decide if college or training after high school is right for dem.
- Work-based Learning connects wuh students are learning in school tuh real jobs.
Supporting Students Tuh Secure OVR Services
De optimal time fuh OVR tuh open uh case is when de student iz ready an’ available tuh engage in de activities necessary to establish uh competitive, integrated employment goal. These activities include de development of uh individualized plan fuh employment (IPE) an’ participation in vocational services tuh become employed. De time at which this occurs iz unique to each individual. Students might apply fuh VR services in uh number uh ways:
- In-person wid an OVR counselor
- Through de OVR online pre-application
- Completion of uh paper pre-application
