My high school experience changed when I met two high school teachers who were helpful to me at a time when I was struggling. I wanted more of a challenge in my academics and I was able to move into the Learning Support program. I was also given opportunities to work through programs offered by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. I worked my first job during the summer at a CVS store. Then I had the opportunity to become a Youth Ambassador with the Riverview Intermediate Unit 6 (IU6). I attended the Community of Practice Transition Conference this past summer and learned some things about myself through this experience.
While attending an inservice at IU6 I listened to the keynote speaker and was inspired by his life story which made me think that I’d like to be a public speaker like him in the future. I’m also currently working at a local market in my hometown which gives me the opportunity to interact with people while working with comic books, baseball cards, food and in the thrift/antique department. I’m hoping to continue to grow my work experience in the future
